Deputy Prime Minister and Spokesperson of AKP government Bozdag insists: “There is an ongoing huge perception operation saying that journalists are in prison in Turkey.”
Former Justice Minister and current AKP spokesperson Bozdag argued that there is no journalist in prison who jailed only for practicing journalism. According to Bozdag, “Turkey currently is facing with a huge perception operation trying to create opinions out there that publishers and journalists are imprisoned in Turkey.”
Bozdag spoke in International Culture, Tourism and Democracy Congress Media Workshop in Ankara. He said that during the AKP (Justice and Development Party)’ governing years, AKP had removed many prohibitions in publications and they freed many books, magazines, articles and scientific searches. He believes that they are the one who have erased all those shames and embraces in Turkey’s history.
Bozdag renews his claims as he recently stated that there is no one who are charged ‘accused or interrogated for only practicing journalism. And he continued saying that “ Turkey has been facing with a huge perception operation calming that publishers, authors and journalists are imprisoning in Turkey. We have seen this in West and USA. According to Turkey’s constitutions, everyone is equal before the law. There should be no differentiations when somebody commits a crime regardless of their professions, titles or places. In Republic of Turkey’s prisons, no one is charged or accused with only publishing a news, nor writing a column namely not for only practicing journalism.”Dogan Tuncer
