Claiming that Umut Gündüz Altın, Murat Yüksel and Musa Kurt shut down the surveillance camera in the break room, more than 30 prison officers physically harassed them who are jailed at Silivri 9th Ward due to the allegations of being member of DHKP/C terrorist organization. The father of Umut Gündüz Altın, Mr. Cengiz Altın, said that his son, tortured along with Mr. Yüksel and Mr. Kurt, lost his eyesight. He continued “my son is complaining about the pain all over his ribcage. His body is full of blue spots. There were special teams brought to Silivri Jail for torture.”
Umut Gündüz Altın was arrested 9 months ago with the accusation of being DHKP/C member. Initially, he was sent to Maltepe Youth detention center. Once he turned 18 years old two months ago, he was transferred to Silivri’s 9th Ward.
Mr. Cengiz Altın who visited his son other day was astonished to see the blue spots all over his son’s body. Regarding what his son encountered in Silivri Jail so far, the father mentioned the following:
“more than 30 prison officers went into their ward. Claiming that my son and his two ward mates shut down the surveillance camera in the break room and that they took the trash can away from the break room, the officers started to beat them up to the death. Taking the clothes of Murat Yüksel and Musa Kurt off, they were thrown into soundproof rooms. My son told me that there are special teams brought to Silivri Jail for torture only. They are being continuously physically harassed by these special teams.”
Father Altın added that his son and his two friends were seen by a doctor. In addition, he raised his doubts, saying “Doctor told them that you guys beat each other. Why would our kids beat each other up? How can such an unserious diagnosis come from a doctor?” While pointing out that he did not meet nor speak to anyone from jail administration, he said “what will I speak about? No justice is left in this country. I am going to consult the lawyer today and raise our voices. The conditions at jails are daunting.”
