Helicopter pilot contradicts General Chief of Staff’s remarks at the court: Turkey Coup trials

The prisoners, who stand trial due to the activities of the Army Aviation Command where the helicopters vented in Ankara on July 15, the coup attempt night, came to the court for the first time. The helicopter pilot Colonel Uğur Kapan, who took the Chief of General Staff to the Prime Minister’s building with the helicopter the next day of the coup, said Akar said to himself that “we acted early, should have been waited, we’ve been disgraced.” After these words, everyone in the trial was shocked.

Hurriyet reporter Mesut Hasan Benli used the words of Pilot Kapan in his twitter account; “The stream has been passed, the horse can be changed. Akar is on target. Pilot Kapan said: ‘Akar told me: we acted early, should have been waited, we’ve been disgraced’”

Besides, his words “There was no cut mark in his throat when Akar got on the helicopter.” differs from Akar’s claims that he was forcibly taken by squeezing his throat with the belt at the Akıncı Base.

Gen. Hulusi Akar had claimed that he had been forced into the Akıncı Base and that his throat was squeezed by a belt. In the statement he made with the Prime Minister Yıldırım, he often lifted his head and the cut mark in his throat was caught by the cameras.

On the other hand, the major who reported the coup to MIT is not involved in the case as a defendant or a witness.
