Abdullah Gül’s Advisor detained due to alleged ‘FETO’ links

Ayşe Yılmaz, advisor of 11th President Abdullah Gül’s wife- Hayrunnisa Gül has been arrested in continuing operations against the Gülen movement or as the AKP government calls it ”FETO”.

According to Alican Uludağ’s report in Cumhuriyet, Ayşe Yılmaz has been detained by authorities due to her membership of ‘FETO’. She was questioned by Ankara’s 3rd Court of Peace and was released on the 9th June. But after objections by prosecutor’s, the 4th Criminal Court Judge decided that she was to be detained. The reasons given for her arrest include: ‘The suspect sent her children to schools which were identified with a known terrorist organisation until they were shut down. Also after the ‘Save Bank Asya’ order, it was observed that there was an increase of money in her account. Due to this and other evidence, it is has been decided that the legal control decision isn’t enough.’

Ayşe Yılmaz stated that she wasn’t a member of ‘FETO’. She further argued that she left the community [Gülen Movement] after she finished university and refused the accusation that she was a ‘Chatting head(able)’. Yılmaz accused the person who stated this charge of having psychological problems.

Ayşe Yılmaz was a graduate of Bilkent University and advisor for Abdullah Gül when Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was banned from politics in the year 2002.After Abdullah Gül had gone to Çankaya Palace as President, she started to advise for Hayrunnisa Gül. Yılmaz was one of the people who took part in the meal  given for Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, . She worked with Hayrunnisa Gül until August 2016 and then her staff enrolment passed to the Ministry of Culture in September 2016.
