Turkey’s Main Opposition CHP argues stripping citizenships will make extradition more difficult

According to Republican People’s Party (CHP) Erdogan does not really want extradition of Gulen: It could only be hindered just like this.

Regarding the  deprivation of citizenship  decision of 130 people among which Gulen is also listed unless if they retun to Turkey in 3 months, CHP’s Group Deputy Chairman, Engin Altay said :

“Extradition of Gulen could only be hindered like this. Erdogan does not really want Gulen to be extradited. “ 

In today’s Official Gazette , it is announced that with the notice of Ministry of Interior, decision of deprivation of citizenship  about some people would be taken.  Mentioned persons are either subject of an ongoing investigation or fugitives. Beside Gulen, there are Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Parlimantarians’s Faysal Sarilyidiz and Tugba Sezer among 130 people mentioned.

Justice and Development Party (AKP) must call Gulen to account

During his press conference, Altay continued : “ AKP government is kidding with our brain. Deprivation of citizenship  can be the worst punishment that can be given to a person. You, AP Government found best solution to hinder extradition of Gulen. It can only be hindered like this. Extradition of Gulen is not requested by this government nor by Erdogan. If they would really like him to be extradited, such notice would not be made. This means “ I will deprivate you of citizenship, so you stay away from me” . AKP must call Gulen to account. They also must call its own people to account who was involved in coup attempt
