More Pro-Kurdish HDP MP Jailed Today, Total of 12 MP in Jail

Enforcing the decision for their ‘forced detention,’ police officers took Baydemir into custody after his speech at the parliament. Currently, eleven HDP lawmakers including its co-leaders remain in various prisons across Turkey on charges of separatism and terrorism

Besime Konca was arrested yesterday

Pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Siirt MP Besime Konca who had been released pending trial (31th May) has been taken into custody in Batman province.

Konca had been arrested on December 13, 2016 as part of an investigation carried out by Batman Chief Prosecutor’s Office. Konca has been arrested again, approximetly three weeks after her release.  In the hearing held on May 3, Konca was released pending trial, but after the verdict the Prosecutor’s Office objected to her release.

Considering the prosecution’s objection, 3rd Heavy Penal Court of Batman in response to the objection of the city’s chief prosecutor for her release, Konca has been taken into custody at the Batman airport and arrested today (on 29 May).
