Strange Practice in Hatay: Arabic Signs Removed

It has been reported, that Arabic signs and names of stores and restaurants operated by Syrian refugees in the City of Hatay have been removed by Hatay Municipality.

A written statement released by the Hatay Municipality on the subject. Municipality confirmed that they started to take the Arabic signboards of stores and restaurants down and released an order for removal.  The police start to take action for that matter.

The municipality stated that the dismantling process was started because of the visual pollution caused by Arabic signboards and tables.

Removal of Arabic signs and names of stores and restaurants is going to be applied throughout the City. But the question of whether the same practice will be applied to other languages remains.
