The American Turkish Council (ATC) will hold its 36th annual business conference in Washington, DC from May 21 to May 23.

ATC’s counterpart in Turkey is the Turkish-American Business Council (TAIK) and these two councils organize these annual meetings.

TAIK, until 2014 had an autonomy. By mid 2014 it lost its autonomy and the Turkish government basically began managing via its appointment. Its first AKP government appointed president was Ekim Alptekin.

TAIK’s chairman Ekim Alptekin also the same person who hired Mike Flynn via his own company Inovo BV in Holland. Later it turned out Alptekin paid Flynn $530,000 last year. Even though Alptekin is a private businessman, Flynn registered as a foreign agent because the work he tried to do (helping to extradite or kidnap Fethullah Gulen, Erdogan’s arch enemy) was basically a work on behalf of the Turkish government.

Flynn’s 2 repayments to Ekim Alptekin also raised some eyesbrows.

Alptekin is still on the ATC Conference’s ‘keynote’ speaker list and expected to speak during the Conference’s opening ceremony on Monday morning.

What is more, ATC Conference which has been held at Ritz Carlton since 2010, this year being moved to Trump International Hotel.
