Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özkaça, who were dismissed with a state of emergency decree and then they went on a hunger strike to get back to their job, are having first sympthoms of Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome.
Gülmen and Özakça, didn’t give permission to get medical treatment if they loose their consciousness
Gülmen was working at Selcuk University and Özakça was a class teacher at Mardin Mazıdağı Primary School. They both were dismissed with a state of emergency decree and they went on a hunger strike on March 10 in Ankara.
According to Bianet’s report; Vedat Bulut, President of Ankara Chamber of Medicine’s Board of Directors, said that they initiated necessary treatments for Gülmen and Özakça, and explained them ‘the rules to be followed’ during hunger strike.
During hunger strike, Gülmen’s weight reduced to 50kgs from 59 and Özakça’s weight reduced to 69kgs from 86.
