Prosecution finalized for Gulen-linked businessmen and the prosecutor asked three times aggravated life sentence for Fetullah Gulen, Chair of the TUSKON (The Confederation of Turkish Businessman and Industrialists) Rızanur Meral and Secretay General Muhammed Günay. Varying imprisonments were claimed for other 83 businessmen.
Indictment describes the TUSKON as one of the main financial branch of the Gulen group (FETÖ). According to indictment donations (himmet) were injected to financial system through the members of the TUSKON, legalized in this way and used when necessary leaving no provable evidence behind.
Indictment also labels the Chair Meral’s speech – delivered on March 1, 2014 amid rising tension between the government and movement in a challenging tone- as defiant to the elected government and accuses Meral’s speech of making FETÖ propaganda, calling for more support to FETÖ-owned Bank Asya to sustain group’s financial activities, targeting the government and the citizens who don’t obey the group. It is also alleged that this speech ignited the wick of actions resulted in July 15 coup attempt.
Those having attended and fiercely cheered the speech were considered to be members of the terrorist organization (FETÖ) for their approval of the criminal speech.
According to the indictment businessmen boosted their business through TUSKON’s network and provided financial support in exchange .
