Earlier some leaked information from the case file suggested that the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan visited the headquarters to meet General Akar.
More details of the July 15 coup attempt are slowly emerging. The newest evidence (from the case file) shows that AKP deputy, the retired General Sirin Unal, visited the General Staff Headquarters at 4.00 PM on the day of the coup attempt and met with the Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar.
According to the report of Asuman Aranca from Turkish daily Sozcu, in the indictment about the breach of the General Staff Headquarters on the day of the coup attempt, shows that Sirin Unal visited the Headquarters and visited Hulusi Akar. Shortly after, at 06.10 pm, MIT Undersecretary Hakan Fidan arrived at the base to visit with General Akar. The indictment suggests that he informed General Akar about a possible raid.
The prosecutor’s indictment also claims that General Akar’s aide Levent Turkkan, later arrested, called General Sirin Unal and Minister Mehmet Ozhaseki. The interesting detail, however, is that the call was made on July 18th, three days after the coup attempt. Turkkan was in custody on July 18th.
Turkkan also appears to have called Mehmet Ozhaseki, Minister of Environment and Urbanization, on the 14th of July. The indictment reads, “[Turkkan] was contacted on July 14th, 2017 at 12.10 pm. The base station information for the cell phone call shows the origin of the call as Eskişehir Road, Çankaya, registered to Mehmet Ozhaseki.”
AKP insiders claim that Ozhaseki, who is from Kayseri province, called Akar -also from Kayseri- through his aide (Levent Türkkan) to invite to an activity in Kayseri.
As to AKP deputy, same insiders claimed that the retired General Sirin Unal, went to the General Staff headquarters to “ pay a visit to his colleagues.”
