Erdogan: “There is no bridge of this length in the world, and that drives the West crazy”

Erdoğan’s Sarıyer Speech

Speaking at Tuzla, before his Sarıyer speech, Erdoğan made the following statement about the night of July 15: “Those traitors flew F-16s. They thought that the president was in Tarabya. What they failed to realize is that the spider will weave webs in front of that cave so you cannot see, and they could not see.”

Highlights of Erdogan’s speech at Sarıyer on Saturday was as follows:

If Kandil is saying “no,” if the head divisionist at İmralı is saying “no,” if the charlatan in Pennsylvania is saying “no,” does that not mean we are on the correct path? Just think what will happen tomorrow, with God’s blessing, when the yes votes explode out of the ballot boxes.

The constitutional change offers our nation a very important governance system both for us and for our children. Pay close attention, those that speak against it do not offer any alternatives, but just insist, “it shouldn’t be, it can’t be done, it shouldn’t change.” You know this mindset well. These people have not planted a single tree for the wellbeing of this country and this nation; they haven’t laid a single foundation. They think that objecting to everything, saying “no’ to everything, constitutes politics. Since they do not know what they are actually saying “no” to, they keep spouting nonsense.

To Davutoğlu: Some say that those who say yes and those who say no are both my brothers

With God’s will, tomorrow night this nation will create its own holiday. Some claim that both those who say “yes” and those who say “no” are their brothers. I will treat those who say “no” with understanding, but I would not weigh them on the same scale as those who say “yes,” how can the two be grouped together? Being understanding is one thing. Why? Because this is a democracy. But if they will all be weighed equally, what is the point of struggling so much for what we believe? Am I right?

“There is no bridge of this length in the world, and that drives the West crazy”

You know this mindset well. These people have not planted a single tree for the wellbeing of this country and this nation; they haven’t laid a single foundation. They think that objecting to everything, saying “no’ to everything, constitutes politics. Since they do not know what they are actually saying “no” to, they keep spouting nonsense. They say no to the airport that will become number one in the world. The distance between the two towers of the Çanakkale Bridge is 2023 meters! There are no other bridges of this length in the world. That is number one as well. We are the country of firsts. That is what drives the West crazy.

Erdoğan to Europe: What business is it of yours?

We see some European countries practically running campaigns. What’s it to you? Why should European members of parliament care? There’s a picture of Erdoğan with a gun pointed to his temple, saying “Kill Erdoğan.” Where is this? In Swiss Parliament. Thank God, clearly we have given them this fear. We offer pleasant conversation to our friends and inject fear in our enemies. That is our difference. Where are Switzerland’s leaders? Why don’t they put terrorists in their place? See, you must understand what these people truly are.

“Yes Erdoğan is very harsh, we know who to treat harshly and who to be easygoing with”

We saw EU members countries go to the Vatican. What are you doing at the Vatican? Is the Vatican an EU member country? It is not. They are Protestant, orthodox, atheist. Yet they all go to the Catholic Vatican. They lined up, listened to the sermon, and left obediently. Because they are all a single nation. They should not come here and lecture us. They can lecture our feet. They have led this country on for 54 years. We know well who to treat harshly and with whom to be easygoing. But none of us bow down. They are uncomfortable because we tell them the truth, because we speak to them with facts.

Today’s Sick Man is the European Union

Today’s sick man is the European Union. Its trade volume is decreasing. Do we have debts to the IMF? We do not. We paid them all off. Those who threaten us with the economy, with visas, with trade should stop and evaluate their own situation. Turkey can surpass them all. Are we a G-20 nation? Our goal is now top 10.
