Report of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) : 76 Prisoners are on Hunger Strike Indefinitely in 6 Penitentiaries

HDP Commission of Penitentiariesy , has stated that there 76 prisoners on hunger strike indefinitely in 6 Penitentiaries.

HDP Commission of Penitentiaries has published a report regarding the hunger strike initiated on 15 February  by the prisoners arrested for PKK & PJAK cases in Izmi Sakran Penitentiary, which also spreaded to many other Penitentiaries.

Reports was prepared on data of HDP Parliamanterians, Human Rights Associations, Solidarity with Dungeons Initiative, Libertarian Legists Platform and Non-Governmental Organisation by Punishment Execution System, it is stated that in total 6 Penitentiaries, 76 prisoners (13 of them are women) are on hunger strike indefinitely.

In many penitentiaries, hunger strikes are made periodically and on turn, since 15 March. Some information from the report transmitted by Agos :

*Sakran Penitentiary : 40th day of hunger strike of 5 women, in T4 section : 12th day of 7 prisoners , 33th day of 8 prisoners, T2 & T3 sections : 47 th day of 13 prisoners

*Sincan Women’s Penitentiary : 39th day of hunger strike of 7 women

*Tekirdag Penitentiary : 26th day of hunger strike of 10 prisoners

*Tarsus Women’s Penitentiary : 20th day of hunger strike of 5 women

*Bolu F type Penitentiary : 6th day of hunger strike of 10 prisoners

*Hatay T type Penitentiary : 3rd day of hunger strike of 11 prisoners

*Van Penitentiary : 3 groups stated hunger strike. However first of groups 10 prisoners were transferred to Tekirdag T-1 Penitentiary, second group of 15 prisoners were transferred to Bandirma F type Penitentiary. Prisoners transferred to Tekirdag Penitentiary, still continuing the hunger strike.

3 More HDP Parlimantarian are on hunger strike

Reports is also underlining that upon hunger strike of HDP Chairman Selahattin Demirtas, & Parlimantarian from City of Hakkari Abdullah Zeydan  ended 2 days ago, as no good will attempt was made for those on hunger strike, 3 more parlimantarian  

Ayhan Bilgen (Parlimantarian from Kars ), Meral Danis (from Adana) and Nihat Akdogan (rom Hakkari) also started hunger strike on 1st of April.
