CHP Istanbul deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu said that the killers of the former head of Diyarbakır Bar Association Tahir Elçi, who had been killed in an armed attack, were known but no one was called to the courthouse to give a statement.
Elçi was killed by a bullet came from a PKK terrorist, of which the police was chasing, while making a press release near Four Footed Minaret (Dört Ayaklı Minare) in 28 November 2015.
His wife, Türkan Elçi, said he was concerned that the murder would be among the “unsolved murders”. HDP’s appeal for the investigation of the murder was rejected.
According to Dihaber’s report, the Diyarbakır Bar Association was convened for 69th time in front of the courthouse with the request of the finding of the murderers and the execution of the investigation file quickly and effectively. In the meeting that attorneys attended by their robe, Kurdish and Turkish banners opened, “We will not forget you” writing on them.
‘Even the legal process can start now, the perpetrators can be found’
CHP’s Tanrıkulu participating in the meeting, reminded that Elçi was murdered about 15 months ago and his life passed through the struggle.
Tanrıkulu said: “Now it is embarrassing for us that to be his murder’s investigation file is exposed the same fate. Unfortunately, no effective investigation took place during the 15-month period. We know that no effort has been made to reveal the real perpetrators. If empty hives were gathered at the crime scene the very same day, maybe the murderers would have found today. Even now, if an operation is carried out with the officials at Yenikapı Sokak, the possible perpetrators will also be revealed.”
CHP deputy said that the direction of the fire was clear and that no one was even called to testify. He stated that his efforts will continue to find perpetrators.
