Turkish Cabinet barred the strike at Akbank citing for financial stability

Strike decision taken by Akbank employees was postponed by Turkish Cabinet. In Cabinet’s decision making, it was pointed that strike is likely to disturb the economic and financial stability.

As the discussions between the union officials and the employer did not result in any concrete solution, some Akbank branches’ employees decided to go on strike on 20th March. However, this decision was postponed by Turkish government. The postponement decision was justified with the fact that such a strike might impact the financial and economic stability negatively.

Strike planned by Bank and Insurance Employees Union (BANK SEN) was postponed by the Turkish Cabinet.
