The son in-law of Alaattin Cakici, Onur Ozbizerdik, was arrested for shooting at a nightclub which he thought was the Netherland’s consulate.

Ozbizerdik who is the son of a Turkish Mafia leader had shot 16 times at a nightclub from a car on the 11th of March for unknown reasons.

The police forces have found Ozbizerdik in an empty building. When Ozbizerdik saw the police, he started running away but the chase lasted only for 500 meters.

“I thought it was a consulate”

According to an article of Damla Guler from Hurriyet, Ozbizerdik has been using medicines whose use were restricted due to side effects. Ozbizerdik claimed that he wasn’t under the influence of alcohol.

Ozbizerdik has claimed that under the effect of the medicines he was unfocused and that when he saw people with orange clothes and walkie-talkies he decided to shoot thinking that it was the consulate of the Netherlands. He said that after the effects of the medicines were gone, he had noticed that he shot at the wrong place.

As he was getting in his car Ozbizerdik screamed “We’re holding our heads up…” and then made a reference to the people voting “no” at the referendum.

He was arrested

After his deposition, Ozbizerdik was arrested for “using a gun in a way that will cause fear and panic” and going against laws regulating the use of firearms.
