According to Anadolu Agency’s report, Turkey’s unemployment rate was up 1.9 percentage point in December from a year earlier, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced Wednesday, with the annual unemployment rate edging up to 12.7 percent, the highest level in the last seven years.
Unemployment also saw a 0.6-point increase from the previous month, its eighth consecutive rise since last August.
On the other hand, Turkey’s youth unemployment rate has also increased. The number of 15-24 year olds who were neither employed nor in education was at 24.8 per cent.
The labour force participation rate came in at 51.6 per cent.
