28 suspects including musician Atilla Taş was demanded to be sentenced from 7,5 years to 15 years in prison for being ‘member of a terrorist organization ‘ under the investigation initiated after the failed coup attempt on July 15th, 2016.
Atilla Taş along with dozens of journalists was arrested on charges of “willingly helping a terror organization without being involved in the hierarchy of the organization” according to Turkish News Portal, Diken.Names of the suspects follow: Abdullah Kılıç, Ahmet Memiş, Ali Akkuş, Atilla Taş, Bayram Kaya, Bülent Ceyhan, Bünyamin Köseli, Cemal Azmi Kalyoncu, Cihan Acar, Cuma Ulus, Davut Aydın, Emre Soncan, Gökçe Fırat Çulhaoğlu, Habib Güler, Halil İbrahim Balta, Hanım Büşra Erdal, Hüseyin Aydın, Muhammed Sait Kuloğlu, Muhterem Tanık, Murat Aksoy, Mustafa Erkan Acar, Mutlu Çölgeçen, Oğuz Usluer, Seyid Kılıç, Ufuk Şanlı, Ünal Tanık, Yakup Çetin ve Yetkin Yıldız.
Suspects will go before the court at Caglayan Courthouse between 27-31 March, in Istanbul.
Another journalist, Büşra Erdal, has been accused of “creating a public opinion in order to justify the liquidation process of the Turkish Armed Forces” during Ergenekon and Balyoz coups trials which took place from 2008 to 2015.
Unal Tanık, owner of Rotahaber news website, one of other journalist has been accused of not revealing the whist-blower ‘fuatavni’s identity and using his website as propaganda tool for ‘FETÖ’ organization.
