Nationalist MHP to Expel 4 MPs for voting ‘No’ in the referendum

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has dispatched four party members to discipline committee to expel from the party

Halil Öztürk, Head of the Center Disciplinary Board of MHP, declared that Kayseri parliamentarian Yusuf Halaçoğlu, Balıkesir parliamentarian İsmail Ok, Isparta parliamentarian Nuri Okutan and Iğdır parliamentarian Sinan Oğan have been dispatched to Central Disciplinary Board of the Party for the demand of certain deposal according to daily Cumhuriyet.

Öztürk’s statement is as follows; “Our party parliamentarians Yusuf Halaçoğlu, İsmail Ok, Nuri Okutan and Sinan Oğan have been dispatched to Central Disciplinary Board of the Party for the demand of certain deposal according to the scope of 81st article of party bylaws after the investigation of their puplic statements, meetings and some similar activities with the claim of violating the 11th article of party bylaws that explains the duties and responsibilities of a party member. Claims also contain giving interviews in contradiction to the decisions and policies taken by the competent organs of our Party before the proposal for constitutional amendment and during the referendum period, supporting the establishment of other platforms that are incompatible with our party’s membership and in this context, visiting different representatives of the other political parties in contradiction to the discipline and hierarchy of our party.”

What happened before?

Party President Devlet Bahçeli sent an order for Yusuf Halaçoğlu, İsmail Ok and Nuri Okutan to depose from the party.

He had reacted very angrily to these 3 parliamentarians for meeting Democrat Party and BBP (Big Union Party) members to vote “No” for the constitutional amendment referendum and said “There are appropriate ways to say no for referendum. The Central Disciplinary Board immediately starts the deposal process for these parliamentarians on Monday.”
