Turkey’s top Imam re “Muslim Ban”: hope that the divisive politics will not not find a voice in the larger public

The head of religious affairs of Turkey, Mehmet Görmez, criticized Trump during his meeting with the Canadian ambassador, Christopher John Cooter. The criticism came after reporters asked Görmez about the recent ban on muslim citizens of seven countries to enter the US.
Görmez declared: “Some good deeds and intentions stop us from generalizing [all Americans.] We saw that people got to the airports in masses, in order to protest and ensure the safety of the people that were detained. As a result, this gives us hope that the divisive politics will not not find a voice in the larger public. I believe that we should keep our hope up and and become even more hopeful”
