HDP MP Ms. Huda Kaya After Being Released: ”Police Raided My Home And Used Violence, I Was Handcuffed”

Fırst Statement From Istanbul HDP MP Huda Kaya After Being Released: ”Police Raided My Home And Used Violence, I Was Handcuffed”

Ms. Kaya spoke to the press in front of courthouse after being released.

Kaya said “after I had noticed to be surrounded by police, I asked them to wait a couple more minutes because I was not dressed properly. According to my faith and principles, I needed to dress properly but police even did not allow to do this. They raided my room and used violence. I was handcuffed as a MP. They did not inform those people who were asking about me. People could not learn where and how I was detained.”

Kaya suggested that her detentions aimed to ”intimidate political opponents of Erdogan and HDP prior to the referendum.” According to Ms. Kaya, ”the referendum results will not be legitimate because referandum will be taken place in an oppressed political environment.”

Kaya was arrested for her suspected role in 6-8 October events in 2014. Kaya said “we are the ones, HDP, who wanted to identify who organized 6-8 October events. We struggled a lot in the parliament to investigate these events but all of our requests were denied by AKP MPs who consists the majority of the parliament. Those who blocked the parliament investigation should be arrested. Not us.”

After her statement to the press, Kaya left the courthouse with HDP MPs Feleknas Uca, Sibel Yiğitalp, Ziya Pir ve İmam Taşçıer.
