Dogubayazit Municipality Raided: Mayor and 12 municipal council members in custody

Dogubayazit Municipality operation: Mayor and 12 municipal council members in custody

In Dogubayazit District of Agri province, the Municipality was raided by Police Department teams today. Dogubayazit Mayor pro-Kurdish DBP’s Rohat Özbay and 12 municipal council members were taken into custody.

According to Cumhuriyet Daily,  large number of police forces conducted an operation against Dogubayazit Municipality building on early Monday morning as well as the house of Mayor Rohat Ozbay. The municipality building was shut down with the barriers while the Special Operations officers were conducting the raid. Entrances and exits to the municipality were cordoned off.

DBP’S MAYOR AND 12 OTHER COUNCILORS IN CUSTODY

In the operation launched in the morning hours, Dogubayazit Mayor DBP’s Rohat Özbay and 12 municipal council members, whose houses were searched by police teams, were detained. Investigations are underway on the detained Mayor and councilors.

MAYOR OF THE TUTAK, KULP DISTRICT IN CUSTODY, TOO

Along with DBP’s Tutak Mayor Firat Ozturk whose post was appointed a trustee in the last 11th January, HDP District Chairman Salih Aydin and DBP District Chairman Hakan Turgut also were taken into custody in the operation coordinated today in the morning hours. The investigation continues.
