ISIS terrorist organization attacked the alliance in Syria’s Al Bab district where Turkish troops present. The Euphrates shield operation was launched on August 24th, 2016 in order to secure the Syrian border from ISIS.
Today, January 20th 2017 at 13.40, it was reported by Turkish Press and confirmed by a Turkish Armed Forces statement that “ISIS attack on Turkish troops and following Turkish soldiers martyred: Saim Topal, Bahattin Bakır, Emre Doruk, Ramadan Taşkın and Mete Can.” Nine soldiers were also injured. “The number of soldiers martyred during Euphrates Shield rose to 54 as of today.” After the attack, members of the ISIS came under heavy fire by Turkish air and land forces.
STATEMENT FROM TURKISH ARMED FORCES
Turkish Armed Forces released a statement after the attacks.
“On January 20, 2017 at 13.40 am, as a result of the bombed vehicle attack on terrorists of ISIS terrorist organization in El Bab’s Sufyaniyah region, unfortunately 5 heroic soldiers were martyred and 9 heroic soldiers were wounded. Wounded soldiers were immediately referred to the hospitals and their treatment started right away. We wish our martyrs who have lost their lives in aggression to mercy from Allah (God), and our condolences to their sorrowful families, to the members of the Turkish Armed Forces, and to the our supreme nation, to the their courageous wounded friends.”
