11 Pro-Kurdish HDP MPs are in jails, cannot vote for Turkey’s Constitutional Changes

11 pro-Kurdish HDP deputies cannot attend the voting at Turkey’s Parliament due to their arrestment. While the voting for a proposal of a constitution amendment continues at the Turkish National Assembly (TNA), HDP made an interesting move when the names of the 11 deputies who are under custody were read and asked to take part at the cabin. The HDP deputies who were present at the TNA shouted ‘in prison’ each time one of their deputies’ names were mentioned.

The action of the HDP deputies was reflected in the official report as:

HEAD- Dear deputy, please vote in front of the tribune, do not wait and leave once it’s done.

(continued gathering votes)

“Diyarbakir

(continued gathering votes)

HEAD- Dear deputy, as you can see there is the president of your group in front and your deputies. We are trying as the chairmanship council to fulfill our jobs.

Dear deputy, please, I am pleading. We should enter the cabins properly in order to vote.

(continued gathering votes)

Fatma Kaplan Hurriyet (Kocaeli) – Don’t you see, they don’t vote one by one, but all together.

Tanju Ozcan (Bolu) – Dear Head, they are showing it to each other! this is bringing discredit.

Ali OZcan (Istanbul) – you are allowing a half confidential vote.

Aykut Erdogdu (Istanbul) – just get into the cabins!
